Abstract
Bergman's purpose in making this study was threefold: (1) to study the life and distribution of birds in the north of Korea; (2) to collect birds and animals for the Swedish Natural History Museum; and (3) to make an ethnographical collection for the Swedish Ethnographical Museum. The length of time consumed in this field work was approximatly one year and eight months. Since the major portion of this work is concerned with such a highly specialized topic, the analyst has only excerpted for the files Bergman's first-hand observations on Korean culture and social structure. Most extensive coverage is given to such subjects as marriage, recreation, death, ecclesiastical organization, fine arts, and religious beliefs.
