Abstract
Rockhill, as United States Chargé d'Affaires in 1886-87 jotted down a series of notes during his four month residence. This is an account of Korean culture presenting information on the following subjects: state, government activities, sanctions, justice, organized ceremonial, magic and feasting. As a general statement concerning Korean social organization, it is one of the best of its kind.
