Abstract
This book presents a review of traditional Hawaiian life, focusing primarily on the time period of the late eighteenth century to the end of the nineteenth. The data cover accounts of the spirits and gods, the kinship system, life cycle events (birth, marriage, death), social stratification, sexual practices, religious beliefs, and family relationships. The main source of information in this document was obtained from elderly Hawaiian informants, supplemented with information from the historical/anthropological literature
