Abstract
This is a collection of tales from the Sauk and Fox of Iowa, including stories about The Sacred Pipe, Fasting, Possum, A Boy who Killed a Raccoon, The Chief's Daughter and the Orphan, The Indian who Crossed the Ocean, and The Twins. Although these tales are supposedly of the Sac[Sauk] and Fox of Iowa, the author, Mary Lasley, was the daughter of Black Hawk, a Sauk, and lived in Reserve, Kansas. Actual origins of the stories are not clear.
