Geographical Magazine11 • Published In 1940 • Pages: 50-59

By: Johnson, J. C. A..

Abstract
In this second article by Squadron Leader Johnson the annual activities of the nomadic, semi-nomadic, and settled Kurds, the life history of a Kurd from birth to marriage, and the tobacco and mercantile business among the Kurds are described. The attitudes of the Kurdish people and Johnson's interpretations of economic and social changes that keep Kurds a 'backward' tribal group and make them settle and become an integral part of the modern world, are discussed.
