Abstract
This is a descriptive ethnology of Gond cultural life, covering specifically material culture, sociology, life histories, and religion up to the mid twentieth century. Comparative data on the Bhumia (AW46), a central Indian tribal group, has been indexed only for category 171 (comparative data) where the information is relevant. Throughout the text Fuchs attempts to show how the Gond have borrowed from Hindu culture and religion, without however losing completely their own tribal identity.
