Abstract
This is a comprehensive study of Navajo dwellings based on archaeology and survey of contemporary buildings across the Navajo Reservation. The authors discuss the different kinds of dwellings, in terms of architecture and materials used, and changes in dwelling types and settlement patterns over time, periodizing several phases. They also map the distribution of housing types across the Reservation. Included in the survey are sweat houses, wind breaks, storage structures, and corrals.
