Abstract
This source reviews all known data on Navajo kinship and matrilineality, based primarily upon the work of other previous ethnographers. The author discusses in detail the working of Navajo social organization, including clan (and LEC, or 'local clan elements'), community, and family units. Navajo kinship terms and their contextual uses are also discussed.
