Abstract
This article deals with the function of circumcision in Tiv culture. The relation of the practice to age grades, ritualism, and the attainment of adult status is sketched in a brief and lucid manner. A detailed description of one occasion on which several young males were circumcised is given, and four illustrations by the author augment the text.
