Abstract
This source deals almost entirely with the Pomo Bear Doctors, their mythological origins, acquisition of power, assistants, clothing, weapons, special rites, and communication with other members of the profession. Comparisons are made between the customs and beliefs of the Pomo Doctors and those of the Yuki and Miwok. A short discussion is also given of Pomo Panther Doctors, who differ in many aspects from the Bear Doctors.
