Abstract
After a few introductory statements on the nature of Warao PIACHEs (shamans, medicine men, priests), Barral presents an extensive listing of the professional lexicon used by these PIACHEs in their curing ceremonies. This specialized vocabulary, arranged in alphabetical order, makes up the bulk of this work. It is presented to show to what degree the vocabulary is permeated with elements of 'occultism,' or what the author calls 'literary camouflage' by means of which an atmosphere of mystery is created conducive to the creation of optimum conditions for the performance of the curing ritual.
