Abstract
This document describes in detail concepts of reality versus ideology in terms of male-female relationships in Mundurucu society. In their analysis of the data the authors consider '…the historical , ecological, and cultural setting in which the Mundurucu live, the mythology concerning women, the woman's work and household life, marriage and child rearing, and the impact of social change on the female role' (cover). Particular attention in the text is given to sexual antagonism and the manner in which women compensate for their low public position in the society.
