Abstract
This source is comprised of brief ethnographic extracts concerning the Uru taken from Spanish accounts dating mostly from the latter part of the sixteenth and the early seventeenth centuries that otherwise dealt mainly with the Inca empire and Spanish colonial administration. These fragments provide a valuable baseline for a study of Uru cultural continuity and change. The useful bibliography does not refer to the text; rather, it lists many of the principal modern works concerning the Uru.
