Abstract
This is a restudy of the Bolivian Sirionó studied in detail by Allan Holmberg during his fieldwork among these people in 1940-1941. Stearman reviews Holmberg's work among the Sirionó, examines the problems he describes, and builds directly on his work in their resolution. Much of this work deals with the author's observation of and participation in the culture of the Siriono. She describes the affects of acculturation on the society since Holmberg's visit, especially in regard to missionization, the general economy as it existed in the 1970s and early 1980s, and future prospects for the Sirionó.
