Abstract
This study discusses the effects of tourism and commercial collecting on the ceramic art of the Shipibo-Conibo people. Lathrap describes the various types of ceramic vessels in daily household use which are classifiable within a system of functionally meaningful categories: QUENTI (for cooking); CHOMO (storage container for liquid); QUENPO (cup); and QUENCHA (food bowl). The author also discusses changes in style and decoration of the ceramic ware as the result of the tourist trade. A lengthy bibliography will be found on pages 371-393 of the text.
