Abstract
This is a discussion of figurines used by Chachi shaman. The author documents the genealogy of the figurines and their shaman owners. Some of the figurines came from archaeological sites and were re-utilized by the shamans, age of the artifact having an important supernatural quality. Some of the figurines depict Spanish missionaries and police officers. The older and more foreign the figurine, the more potent it is believed to be.
