Abstract
This is a case study of migration from a Tongan village. James examines the migration history and transnational relationships between kin, which are components of the so-called MIRAB economy. The acronym referes to Pacific Island microeconomies that depend on migration, remittances, aid, and government spending (bureaucracy.) James focuses on remittances and fosterage, and the relationship between the two.
