A new Pacific Ocean script

Abstract
In July 1913, Professor Brown paid a visit to the reef island of Woleai, where one of the chiefs squatted and wrote a sentence in the script of the island. Later on, Mr. Brown received a full list of Woleai characters. The Woleai script is syllabic, and the author maintains that the script which, in 1913, was known only to five men is probably a relic of a wide usage in the archipelago, where 'it must have belonged the ruling class of an empire of some extent.'
