Abstract
Hogbin was a former student of Bronislaw Malinowski, and a well-known anthropologist. During the course of his war service, he had the opportunity of visiting the Trobriands for a few days, and this notice is the result. It is a summary of wartime conditions, insofar as they affected native institutions, in the Trobriands. Hogbin also picked up the threads of Malinowski's former friendships with the natives.
