Abstract
In this source, the author presents a semiotic analysis of Orokaiva reciprocity and gift exchange. After outlining the semiotic method, he discusses the vernacular terminology of the Orokaiva exchange system with reference to mythology. He concludes that there is a connection between the rules of the reciprocity and gift exchange system and the Orokaiva perception of world order.
