Abstract
This source, the work of a psychoanalyst, outlines those elements of Apache socialization practices and childhood experience which the author considers most central to personality formation, linking childhood trauma to adult personality disorder. Attention is then turned to Apache beliefs in the supernatural, conceptualization of disease, and the roles of shaman and witch. The concluding sections employ psychoanalytic method in relating the belief system to the modal personality structure.
