Abstract
This source presents the history of the Mescalero Apaches, from the Spanish Conquest to 1972. The author's main purpose is to present facts largely from the Mescalero point of view in order to foster understanding of the Indians' plight. Apparently, only a few renegade Mescaleros were involved in the intense warfare between Apaches and the U. S.
