Dialogue: a journal of Mormon thought10 (2) • Published In 1977 • Pages: 12-44

Abstract
This source, by a Mormon physician and medical historian, traces the history of birth control in the United States in general, the history of the official Church position, and actual practice of birth control among Mormons. Some information is also given on attitudes toward abortion and infanticide. The research is primarily based on secondary sources, but is also based on some interviewing and observations from the author's own medical practice. The conclusion is that although birth control is generally not approved by the Church, it is practiced by about ninety percent of the Mormon population.
