Fact and fancy in Ute peyotism

American anthropologist, n.s.44 • Published In 1942 • Pages: 151-159

By: Opler, Marvin Kaufmann.

Abstract
This article is a stinging reply to criticisms made by Omer C. Stewart of an earlier article by Opler concerning Ute peyotism (see Opler 1940, this collection). Much of the article is devoted to a clarification of points made in the earlier article and criticisms of Stewart's work although there are a few new bits of information, mainly on the differences between peyotism in Ignacio and in Towaoc.
