American Indian quarterly6 (1 & 2) • Published In 1982 • Pages: 52-70

By: Wright, Anne Lucille.

Abstract
In this study, Wright interviews 'traditional' and 'acculturated' Navajo women about menarche, menstruation, fertility, and menopause. Some of the findings include: i) 'traditional' women had more positive attitude towards menstruation, ii) 'acculturated' women practiced contraception, and iii) menopause is viewed by 'traditional' women with less trepidation, just another stage in the reproductive cycle.
