Abstract
The source reports the results of hearings conducted by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission on the nature of the trading post system, abusive or questionable commercial practices engaged in by White traders, and the need for changes in the laws which regulate trading posts. Much information is presented documenting the Navajo 'credit-saturated' economy both on and off the reservation, and recommendations are suggested to alleviate this underdeveloped condition.
