Abstract
This source is concerned with the origin and the development of the Navajo Tribal Council from its earliest days until the early 1970's, a period in which the Navajo collectively pressed land claims through formal suits and witnessed the granting of leases to its lands for mineral rights. The highlights of self-government and of changes in Washington's administrative policies are discussed.
