Abstract
This source is intended to be a more or less complete reference volume on Navajo material culture from several different regions, representing everything which elderly informants could remember (pp. v-vi). The text consists of very detailed descriptions of individual traits of material culture organized into chapters on subsistence, shelter, clothing, ritual, and recreation. Regional variation (Ramah, East, Central, and West areas) is discussed for each trait. It closes with a summary and analysis discussing such things as raw materials, distribution of traits, and changes over time.
