Abstract
A resident of Fort Wingate in the 1880's gives an account of a Navajo drawing a locomotive from memory. The author points out the many details of the engine's construction which had been accurately observed by the artist and compares the drawing with others the same artist had made of animals and scenes with which he was more familiar. This paper was first prepared for the Smithsonian Report, 1886.
