The changing character of Fox adoption-feasts

American journal of sociology34 • Published In 1929 • Pages: 890-892

By: Michelson, Truman.

Abstract
In this source, Michelson presents a statement, in the nature of a protest, regarding the changing character of Fox adoption-feasts. The paper was first written out by an Indian in Fox syllabary, then the informant dictated an English version. Michelson argues that the English dictated version differs from the written version. Michelson also adds the warning that the informant has Winnebago blood. The conclusion is that the adoption feast is actually an exchange of goods.
