Abstract
This is a brief, not particularly informative, transcription of three question and answer sessions run by Harlan in 1928 in order to improve the knowledge and teaching of Indian history in Iowa schools. Through an interpreter, the informants, chosen partly because of their advanced age, were asked about their memories of life in the past. Food preparation, clothing, clothing manufacture, songs, flute making, ethics, and child training are the topics that receive the most attention, but the coverage is superficial and limited in scope. Frequently it is unclear as to what exactly is under discussion, and at times the informants and interviewers do not understand each other. This coupled with the fact that the information is mainly based on the memories of only two informants means that the researcher should try to cross-check the information in other sources.
