Ethnography of the Fox Indians

U.S. Govt Print. Off.Washington, D. C. • Published In 1939 • Pages: ix, 156

By: Jones, William, Fisher, Margaret Welpley.

Abstract
This is a compilation of Jones' ethnographic notes pertaining to the Fox around 1900. Major areas of coverage include religious beliefs, mythology, ceremonies, ethno-scientific beliefs, life-cycle customs, and games. Although there are materials on social and political organization, these are much less complete, and the monograph is unfortunately lacking in information on economic activities. Most of the data is presented unanalyzed and from the Fox point of view. The editor has provided extensive footnotes that include supplementary data and points out areas in which Jones' statements may be of questionable reliability.
