Abstract
This is highly informative on the nature of early 19th century contacts between the Blackfeet and White traders and settlers of the northern Great Plains. Researchers concerned with the conduct of early trade will find much of interest here. Bodmer's paintings, highlighting the physiognomy, dress, and ornament of the Indians, are particularly remarkable.
