By: Ewers, John C. (John Canfield).

Abstract
This short monograph provides a functional analysis of Blackfoot pipes, along with the materials and techniques used in their manufacture. Based on first-hand observation, a review of previous literature on the subject, and on museum collections, Ewers' conclusions are relevant mainly to comparative studies of this aspect of American Indian material cultures.
