Based on extensive field work, this book examines the social relationships of the Haida community of Masset and its place in the wider society. The author focuses on household composition, family development, marriage and mating, domestic economy, and the continuities in—and resurgence of—Haida culture as related to political struggle and the community's growing autonomy.
