Abstract
This document seeks to reconstruct and explain changes in settlement patterns that have occurred in the area during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. A number of historic period archaeological sites along the lower-middle Yukon River and its tributaries in west-central Alaska are identified and described. Comparisons are made with Eskimo (Yupik) settlement patterns in southwestern Alaska.
