Abstract
Lantis has written the chapter on the Aleut for the Smithsonian Institution's 'Handbook of the American Indian.' It is a good introduction to Aleut ecology, material culture, subsistence practices and society from 1750 to 1975. It includes photographs of Aleutian carvings, clothing, weapons, baskets, and hats.
