Abstract
This is a history of Italian immigrant settlement in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The early Italian immigrants 'discovered' Kenosha when working on the construction crews of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. Members of their families and towns in Italy soon followed. Salituro discusses the business and institutional development of the community, including the church and its festivals. He recounts his own family history and the development of Italian-American ward politics. He shows how Italian-Americans both adapted to and shaped their environment.
