Abstract
This article examines the development and growth of Italian American neighborhoods in New York City, explores some recent developments in these communities, and speculates on future prospects for the 'Little Italies' in the year 2000. The document provides data on housing both in the distant and recent past, community structure, social change in the neighborhoods, and relations of the Italian Americans with other minority groups (primarily African Americans).
