Abstract
The material presented in this study describes how religous parties fought an election campaign in an Israeli town, called Ayara by the author. The first part of this book is devoted to a discussion of the demographic, economic, and political structure of the town, while the second part deals with the partisan, ethnic, and occupational characteristis of the candidates for election, the nomination procedure, and the electoral campaign itself. This section also presents data on religious and ethnic factors affecting the election results. Much of the information in this document deals with immigrant voters in Israel, particularly in reference to the Moroccan and Tunisian ethnic populations. The work concludes with Deshen's socio-anthropological analysis of the election compaign.
