Abstract
This is a study of the Komachi pastoral nomads of Kerman Province, southern Iran during the author's field work with them in 1973-1975. Major emphasis in this work in on marriage negotiations, the place of shepherds in the society, and the apparently unstable nature of the region's pastoral communities (p. 12). Additional data will be found on kinship, class structure and practices, culture history, economics, and the relationship between the shepherds and their wealthy employers.
