Abstract
The author, director of two American financial mission in Persia (1922-1927 and 1943-1945), describes the history of the missions, the nature of the economic, social and psychological problems they encountered, and the circumstances under which they left Persia. There is a discussion of British and Soviet aims and activities in Persia and a prescription for the solution of the Persian problem. Sections of the last four chapters which deal with international rivalries and power politics and the authors recommendations for 'doctoring Persia' are not indexed for subjects.
