Abstract
This is a comprehensive and comparatively up to date study of the Iranian economy. The author, an Indian scholar, traces the development of agriculture, industry, foreign and domestic trade, banking, finance, and transportation and communication systems through the post-World War II period. The charts, maps, and tables have been compiled from statistical data gathered by the author from earlier studies, and while certain areas of the Iranian economy are better covered in more specialized works, this source is considered the most useful one volume survey of the overall economy published to date.
