Abstract
This source is the result of a medical survey made during a two months stay in settlements in the Coco River basin in Nicaragua. This survey was a preliminary to forming a health program among the inhabitants. A few pages are devoted to an historical survey and a cultural summary of the modern Indians. The bulk of the work consists of data specifically related to public health: disease factors of the tropical environment, racial and morphological description, and considerable information on the diet, nutrition, and diseases which are most prevalent in the area. The bibliography is contained in the footnotes, and is fairly extensive, but deals primarily with medical subjects rather than the Mosquito culture itself.
