Abstract
The collection of several folk tales from the Quiché community of Chichicastenango—the most complete being a Bible story adapted as an origin myth—is used to dispute the assertion of an absence of such stories there. Nevertheless, the relative dearth of known folk tales remains mysterious in comparison to the nearby Cakchiquel community of Panajachel, for example.
