Abstract
In this study, Burns has collected from four informants examples of Mayan oral tradition, including origin myths, historical narratives or counsels, curing tales, riddles and jokes. He relates this tradtion to Mayan ecology, history, leadership, and production. He includes the original Yucatec Mayan of some of the stories.
