Abstract
This work is essentially and exhaustive study of Greek history and politics from the Byzantine period (ca. 395 A.D.) to the mid-1960s. The document is divided into four major parts. Parts one and two deal with the origins and historical development of Greece; part three with the Orthodox Church in Greece and modern Greek literature; and part four with contemporary Greece since the Civil War (1947-1949). This latter section discusses political events in the post Civil War reconstuction period, including data on the economy, the Greek countryside (agriculture, the family, education, etc.), the city of Athens, state industries, organization of the civil service, and the political hierarchy and structure of the modern Greek state (as of the 1960s).
