Abstract
Althought the general context of this paper is concerned with the relationship between sexuality and gender, the authors '…enlarge the scope of inquiry to contexts outside marriage (and the household) and raise the issue of whether sexuality, as a set of ideas or a type of behavior, provides the basis of gender in a plurality of contexts' (p. 221). Some of the contexts which are explored in this document deal with pre- and extramarital sexual behavior, the link between women's sexuality and procreation, and male sexuality expressed in practices of masturbation and homosexuality.
