Abstract
This is basically a study of the migration of Albanian workers to Greece, Italy, and Northern Europe, in search of work, and its effects on the Albanian economy. Returning migrants frequently bring back with them savings and new ideas which can be invested in and applied to new enterprises in Albania. While working abroad many migrants contribute to the maintenance of their families through financial remittances which are a major source of the cash income which keep these families out of poverty. In addition migrants often allow relatives and neighbors to make use of resources left behind by the emigrants, such as a house, land, vehicles or houshold equipment, as income-producing activities.
