Abstract
This is a study of socio-cultural changes taking place in the ZADRUGA or extended family household from the nineteenth century to the early 1970s. Topics focus on the ZADRUGA throughout, dealing with such themes as historical background, internal structure (e.g., the family head), internal conflict, size, relationship to nuclear families, etc. Additional data in this work deal with the VAMILIJA, a lineage-like descent group, the household as a labor unit, and several brief family histories.
